QUESTIONS...
& ANSWERS.
What To Expect On Your First Lesson:
I offer a relaxed, private learning atmosphere. Lessons are 50 minutes in length, which gives us enough time to focus on the steps and choreography, without being rushed. My studio is a great place for a date night, so feel free to BYOB or enjoy a complimentary beer or hard seltzer while you dance! We will also spend a few minutes on the first lesson chatting about all the wonderful details of your fabulous day! If possible, please bring pictures of you in your wedding dress.
What If We Don't Have A Song Picked Out?
No worries! You aren't the first, and you won't be the last couple to start your lessons without a song picked out. Amanda has been doing this for over 15 years, and can help you pick a song you'll be happy to dance to!
What If We Want To Do Something That's Not A Typical First Dance?
We have done it all! Got a great idea for your first dance? Let's make it happen!
What If We Aren't Sure What Package To Choose?
Let's start by setting up a free consultation, where Amanda can chat about what you have in mind for your first dance. I promise to find a lesson option that will get you your dream dance while maintaining the budget you have in mind!
What If My Dress Is Difficult To Dance In?
Dancing in a wedding dress can be tricky! As a former dress designer for couture dance costumes, Amanda has years of experience working with a variety of dresses, and will choreograph around any concerns you may have, while highlighting the unique features of your dress!
Please bring a picture of you in your dress, as well as a pair of shoes similar to what you will be wearing for your wedding to your first lesson.
Our Parents Live Far Away, But We Still Want To Make Sure Our Honor Dances Look Great!
This is more common than you may think, and why we ALWAYS make sure all honor dances are covered. Just because your family is far away, doesn't mean you can't have a great Father/Daughter or Mother/Son dance!
What If The Idea Of Dancing In Front Of People Freaks Us Out?
This. Is. Normal.
And a very common question. Let's talk about your feelings about dancing and how much you'd like to acknowledge the audience during your dance.
Its your wedding day. Let's create something awesome YOU will enjoy!
Help! How Do I Get My Fiancé To Step Foot In A Dance Studio?
We are not like typical dance studios. No pink tutus, horrible music, or an audience watching you take your first lesson. We are a relaxed and friendly
adult atmosphere. Enjoy a free glass of wine or beer while you learn something new, laugh, and have fun with the person you will be marrying!
When Should We Start?
Ideally, I like to schedule the last lesson 7-10 days before your wedding day. (Trust me, you'll be too busy the week of!) Then, we'll schedule working backwards at least every other week.
However, we can absolutely schedule weekly leading up to your wedding, or space lessons out monthly if needed.
Can Our Band Play For Our First Dance?
We get this question a lot! And the answer is YES! However, there are pros and cons to dancing to live music, which Amanda will go over with you during your consultation.
How Long Should Our Song Be?
While I'm not completely against fading a song out after a couple minutes, I am definitely going to try to talk you out of it! Four minutes can sound like an eternity now, but don't rule out dancing for the whole song! The truth is, that may be the only four minutes in the whole day that you will be completely unbothered, with a chance to look around at your beautiful wedding, and let it hit you... You're married now!
We Don't Like Being In The Spotlight... Does It Have To Be A Performance?
No. This is YOUR moment. You do not owe anyone a performance on your wedding day! A great first dance doesn't have to be just for your guests. It can (and should!) be a beautiful moment for you and your new spouse to enjoy, in a way that is comfortable for you.
Have no fear- some of the best First Dance pictures can come from choreographing with this in mind!
